Adult Dressmaking / Fashion Design and Pattern Cutting Classes:
We have Separate Classes for Ages : 11years to 19 years and separate Classes for Ages : 18years to 70+years)
Items to Bring to Class: Note Book , Pen, Pencil, dressmakers chalk, Folder to keep hand outs and leaflets, pins, scissors for fabrics, scissors for pattern cutting (initial stage). Threads , tape measure.
- Participants will learn all levels from Beginners to Advance ( From Basic dressmaking including Fashion Design/Arts and Crafts – Giving participants choices to add to their skills in Free hand Cutting techniques and Dressmaking final finish to a Professional Standard.
- Beginners will be given lessons in introduction to sewing machine, fabric properties, pattern making their first foundation skirt , trouser, blouse/tops, dress etc depending on choice of garment .
- Intermediate and Advance Levels will learn various skills and techniques in Bridal Wear, Evening Wear , Daywear in either Children and/or Adult wear as well as Other Choices including Alteration of Garments of all types.
- Generally, Participants will receive skills training in free hand cutting , sewing techniques and in fashion design to a professional standard.
- Multicultural Dressmaking is encouraged . Tackling Traditional Clothings/ Day and Evening Wears - Children/Adults as well as any design so far as the Tutor thinks participant will be able to tackle that experience.
- We suppy machines as well as Overlock machine during classes.

On the 4th of July 2014 The African Cultural Association was registered with the Charity Commission as a CIO (Charity Incorporated Organisation) to provide general advice and information and Provide Skill Training for Adult, Family and the Community in Greater London .
Our services cover advice on income support, housing, immigration, health, bereavement, employment, legal services and education( We give advice, guidance, training and support to the unemployed , lone parents - particularly promoting educational /recreational Activities as well as planning and arranging Courses and Projects for Youth and Adults from 7years to 70+ years. (We are UK Registered Learning Provider ) . In addition, the Association seeks to promote awareness of different cultures in multicultural Britain.
