Decision making in business is about selecting choices or compromises in order to meet business objectives. We define effective decision making as the process through which alternatives are selected and then managed through implementation to achieve business objectives. ‘Effective decision making result from a systematic process, with clearly defined elements, that is handled in a distinct sequence of steps’ [Drucker, 1967]. Every decision-making process produces an outcome that might be an action, a recommendation, or an opinion.
We look in detail at problem solving methodology and how you can as leader, apply the best fit decision making processes to resolve problems in the workplace. You will learn how to apply a range of techniques to define problems, identify root causes, and identify and analyze potential solutions to determine their efficacy. This includes learning how to use a number of risk and costs benefits analysis techniques. You will also learn how to plan for the successful implementation.
