Our Banksman Essentials training course will help employers to ensure that their banksman are fully trained to undertake this role.
One of the main causes of fatal injuries in the workplace is being struck by a moving vehicle. People are knocked down, run over, or crushed against fixed parts by moving vehicles, often when reversing.
Vehicle movements in the workplace require careful management to control and reduce the likelihood of accidents. Implementing a suitable vehicle management system can help prevent these accidents.
The use of suitably trained banksmen will help employers to safely manage vehicle movements in the workplace.
LegislationThe Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1999, (as amended), require employers to undertake suitable and sufficient risk assessments for all significant activities in the workplace.
From these risk assessments, safe systems of work are required for significant activities which includes suitable training for employees.
The Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992, regulation 17 states the requirement for safe traffic routes in the workplace.
Banksman Essentials TrainingAlthough this online course does not replace the practical training required, it does provide vital tools and understanding for people new to banksman operations. The training course can also act as a refresher for anyone with existing experience.
The course will cover the following topics:
- Understanding the general duties of a banksman / signaller.
- Understanding common banksman hand signals.
- Describing the 'Safe Site, Safe Vehicle, Safe Driver' model.
- Understanding the dangers of reversing vehicles and how to reduce the risks of accidents
