Details

The purpose of this specialist qualification is to enrich practitioners’ understanding of advanced anatomical, physiological and pathological principles relevant to the application of Sport & Remedial Massage. It will provide learners with orthopaedic join assessments, advanced palpation skills and those needed to analyse posture and range of movement.  It will also provide practitioners with a range of advanced soft tissue skills and massage techniques to prevent and manage injury in Sport and Active Leisure.  Practitioners will learn to critically evaluate massage strategies and methods to inform on future treatments.

Most courses cover just the basic sports massage techniques, however we are unique in our approach and teach many advanced soft tissue and peripheral joint mobilisation techniques, plus sports first aid, to ensure our graduates are the best in the industry.

In 1999, Richard co-founded ‘Sports Therapy Organisation’ (STO), as a small networking group of physiotherapists and sports massage therapists working in sport which mainly covered the North West.  Its main aims were to provide support and advice, and also to ‘exchange’ ideas and techniques through small workshops.

In 2000, Christian Platts joined the team, and ‘Active Health Group’ was born.  Its main aim was to provide a good alternative to the traditional sports therapy courses offered mainly at colleges of further education.

Since then, Active Health Group has provided consistent professional training in Sports Therapy and Massage, and was the first company to develop externally accredited qualifications at Level 5 in Sports Therapy and Sports & Remedial Massage, and at Level 4 in Myofascial Release.  Where we have lead, others have followed. ...
