The AHG Level 3 Certificate in Sports Massage gives learners the knowledge, integrity, competency and proficiency to perform sports massage on a wide range of clients, both sporting and non-sporting.

 This course is suitable for massage therapists, physiotherapists, sports scientists and other healthcare professionals who wish to gain a formal sports massage qualification.

This course will teach a good level of Sports Massage to enable candidates to offer additional services to sports people or those in the active leisure industry.

We will be covering:

  • Sports Massage Consultations

 Apply sports massage techniques to meet clients needs, such as:

  • Effleurage,
  • Petrissage,
  • Friction,
  • Tapotement,
  • Vibration
  • Pre/Post Event Massage
  • Other specific sports massage techniques.
  • Evaluate and re-assess treatments in relation to original aims, objectives and massage strategies and treatment plans, using methods such as client feedback and physical re-assessment methods.



Entry requirements:

Candidates will need the following:

Level 3 Body Massage and Level 3 Anatomy & Physiology, or

Be a registered healthcare practitioner such as Physiotherapist, Osteopath, or Graduate Sports Scientist

Other massage qualifications may be considered.

For those who have no formal massage qualification, we offer an Access Course, which covers the foundations of body massage and Anatomy & Physiology.

Outline

Formats offered:

Intensive format: 5 days of practical training covered in 1 weeks, excluding weekends.
- Next one starts on the 7th September in Manchester

Monthly format: 5 days of practical training covered in 1 month, 1 week per month, excluding weekends.
- Next one starts on the 19th October in Manchester

Weekend format: 5 days of practical training covered in 5 months, 1 weekend per month. 
- Next one starts on the 1st August in Manchester

The outlined price for this course is ££495.00. However, if you decide to pay in full, you will receive a discount, which will take the fee down to £450.00.

We also offer various monthly instalment plans, which would enable you to spread the cost over a preiod of months, depending on the length of your course. The full fee for the course must be paid out before the completion of it.

Example: 

Joe Bloggs enrolls on our weekend Sports Massage in June 2015, by paying the £100.00 deposit, which is required for us to secure his place.He has chosen the instalment option and his course starts in August and will run for 3 months, until October. That means that Joe will have 5 months to pay out the rest of fee.

‘Active Health Group’ was formed in 1997, as ‘Active Health Sports Therapy’, by its founder Richard Johnson.  Initially, Richard ran a busy clinic, worked for various sports clubs, as well as teaching Sports Massage and Sports Therapy.

In 1999, Richard co-founded ‘Sports Therapy Organisation’ (STO), as a small networking group of physiotherapists and sports massage therapists working in sport which mainly covered the North West.  Its main aims were to provide support and advice, and also to ‘exchange’ ideas and techniques through small workshops.

As STO grew, the need for a good quality Sports Therapy course became more apparent as there were very few around.

In 2000, Christian Platts joined the team, and ‘Active Health Group’ was born.  Its main aim was to provide a good alternative to the traditional sports therapy courses offered mainly at colleges of further education.

Since then, Active Health Group has provided consistent professional training in Sports Therapy and Massage, and was the first company to develop externally accredited qualifications at Level 5 in Sports Therapy and Sports & Remedial Massage, and at Level 4 in Myofascial Release.  Where we have lead, others have followed. ...
