Gel nail polish is a special formulation of polish/gel that is cured under ultraviolet light or LED lamp. Many manufacturers of gel nail polish say that the gel formulas last at least 21 days without chipping, making them much more practical than regular polishes for both manicures and pedicures. The gels are also gentler than other overlay products such as false tips and acrylics, which help maintain strong and healthy natural nails.

  • Gel Polish is versatile and can be used as a soak off gel.
  • With the benefit of a brush on application it can be used as a traditional polish.
  • It can be cured in a LED or UV light (some manufacturers claim that it can be cured in as little as 10 seconds in LED light).
  • Some gel polish products can last as long as 3 weeks with a high shine with no chipping, no peeling and no maintenance.

This course aims to teach you (the student) how to practically perform a gel polish treatment in a safe and professional manner. All of the information in this course manual has been designed to take you (the student) through a gel polish course ensuring that you have all the knowledge required to work hygienically and effectively.

As tutors we aim to provide you with all the knowledge needed to work in the gel polish industry safely and with confidence.

By the end of this course, you (the student) will be able to:

  • Understand laws, acts and regulations in relation to being a professional gel polish technician.
  • Explain the anatomy, physiology and pathologies related to your chosen therapy.
  • Demonstrate a full gel polish treatment from initial set up to aftercare.
