This is an online CPD Age Verification Course...
Under the Licensing Act 2003 (Mandatory Licensing Conditions) Order 2010 it is a mandatory licensing condition that an age verification policy applies in relation to the sale or supply of alcohol. This mandatory condition applies to premises where alcohol is sold or supplied for consumption on or off the premises. The Home Office requires that all premises that sell or supply alcohol, such as pubs, bars or clubs must hold an age verification policy.

Who is the Age Verification Online CPD course for?

This E Learning age verification course should be completed by licence  holdersand responsible persons of premises that sell or supply alcohol.  Underage alcohol sales and supply is illegal under UK law and any licenced premises that supply alcohol to those under the age of 18 will be prosecuted.

Why is this Age Verification course required?

The Home Office guidance makes it illegal to sell alcohol to a person who is under the age of 18, i.e., both the seller and the customer are considered to be committing an offence. The government defines persistent selling of alcohol to children as selling alcohol to those under the age of 18 on two or more occasions within a single (continuous) three month period. Current legislation recommends the following actions for those selling alcohol to underage customers:

  1. If prosecuted, the licence holder can be fined for up to £10,000 and their licence may be suspended for up to 3 months
  2. The police or trading standards officers may give the licence holder an alternative to prosecution, such as voluntarily accepting a 48 hour closure instead of accepting criminal liability
  3. The police may ask the licencing authority to review the licence, which may be in addition to the two options above

This online age verification course enables licence holders and responsible people to gain a full understanding of their responsibilities and to comply with the law. This e-learning age verification training course also helps licenced premises to develop a compliant age verification policy for their organisation.
