What are Memory Training Sessions 

Memory training sessions are a combination of targeted physical games used to speed up though processes and reaction, the ability to take on and retain information. Age appropriate exercises used to increase oxygen flow to the brain and increase overall function. A mixture of directed group mediation, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and visualisations techniques to increase concentration. Recognised memory improvement and retention methods. 

This course is delivered using a combination of home study and face-to-face time via Skype

Aim

The aim of the course is teach those who attend the skills needed to assess, prepare, deliver an evaluate memory training sessions for older people.

The learning outcomes

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course students will be able to:

1. Assess the needs of their service users with service appropriate tools
2. Prepare and plan one to one and group memory training sessions
3. Facilitate and deliver memory training sessions 
4. Identify partial and full exclusions to inclusion in memory training sessions
5. Be able to critically reflect on their own practice

George Flaherty MSc MBA Ba Ed, started working within social care in 1995. He is now renowned for his ability to pass on practical skills to those that attend his seminars and courses across the UK, Europe and the USA.

Over the years George has managed and successfully marketed his own businesses. He has now passes the skills he has learnt to owners and managers of social care settings. George is often a guest speaker at conferences and seminars explaining how to fill care home beds and promote homes successfully.

He is a published author of many books. His latest book The Guide to Filling Care Home Beds is due for publication December 2011.
