Introduction information:
The management of challenging behaviour in Autism and Aspergers was created originally in 2012. It was updated last year to meet the needs of those supporting young people with Autism and Asperger’s in their own homes and community.
The interventions covered fall into three distinct areas as follows:
1. Immediate management and containment
2. Intermediate management and prevention
3. The long term development of behavioural coping strategies for young people

Outline
The Aim
The aim of the course is to provide those who attend the skills to respond appropriately to behaviours that are challenging and reduce the frequency and severity of their occurrence.
The Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course those who attend will be able to:
1. Identify their own role in the creation of behaviours that challenge
2. Identify and create a range of preventative medium and long term measures
3. Understand the legal and safety issues connected to responding to behaviours
5. Prevent or minimise the need for physical interventions and containment
6. Reflect, evaluate and improve interventions
7. Evidence practice

George Flaherty MSc MBA Ba Ed, started working within social care in 1995. He is now renowned for his ability to pass on practical skills to those that attend his seminars and courses across the UK, Europe and the USA.
Over the years George has managed and successfully marketed his own businesses. He has now passes the skills he has learnt to owners and managers of social care settings. George is often a guest speaker at conferences and seminars explaining how to fill care home beds and promote homes successfully.
He is a published author of many books. His latest book The Guide to Filling Care Home Beds is due for publication December 2011.
