Introduction information:

This workshop helps those who attend to explore what Dignity in Care means to them as individuals, and in professional practice. As part of this those who attend will study values and actions create a high quality service that respects people's dignity. 

Outline

The aim of the training:

The aim of the course is or those who attend will be able to identify the ten key points required to provide dignity in care, and how to apply them in reality in their day-to-day practice.

The learning outcomes
By the end of the course those who attend will be able to:
1. Identify the importance of having zero tolerance of all forms of abuse
a. Whistleblowing
b. Organisational policy in whistleblowing
2. Identify the levels of support and respect they want for themselves or a family member
3. Identify the importance of person centred care in care settings and how this can be achieved by:
a.Listening and supporting people in their care’s ability to express their needs and wants
b.Engaging with family members and carers as care partners
4. Demonstrate how to maintain the maximum level of independence, choice and control by: 
a.Communicating with people in them why they feel comfortable
b.The use of appropriate levels of pain management
c.Ensuring people feel in their care are able to complain without fear of retribution
d.Assisting people to maintain confidence and positive self-esteem
e.Acting to alleviate people's loneliness and isolation
f.Respecting people's right to privacy

Speaker/s

George Flaherty MSc MBA Ba Ed, started working within social care in 1995. He is now renowned for his ability to pass on practical skills to those that attend his seminars and courses across the UK, Europe and the USA.

Over the years George has managed and successfully marketed his own businesses. He has now passes the skills he has learnt to owners and managers of social care settings. George is often a guest speaker at conferences and seminars explaining how to fill care home beds and promote homes successfully.

He is a published author of many books. His latest book The Guide to Filling Care Home Beds is due for publication December 2011.
