This course is advanced training for specialist brain injury units or for people who are supporting individuals who have neurological disorders.

All staff who deliver personal care or who are involved in the care planning

Outline
Proposed Learner Outcomes - The worker must be able to:
• Develop an understanding of the brain, its parts and its functions
• Identifying what are the most common causes of disorder
• Understand what is an ABI
• Be able to identify different types of ABI
• Understand what is diffuse axonal injury
• Identify the results of ABI on the individual
• Developing empathy for the client with the disorder
• Develop an awareness of traumatic epilepsy
• Understand more about COMA and its measurement indexes
• Understand what approaches are available to help people with ABI
• Know what resources are available for support within the community and multi
disciplinary team

1. For registered nurses who wish to incorporate this training into your PREP portfolio’s, you should carry out practice reflection and attach subsequent evidence from this training
2. Staff require CPD points and / or working with the Qualification and Credit framework should carry out practice reflection and attach subsequent evidence from this training
3. Certificates or attendance are issued for each learner
4. A learner assessment or workbook is available for post training audit
Registration details are kept by us for Seven years and are legal documents. It is important to register in block capitals clearly on the day.

George Flaherty MSc MBA Ba Ed, started working within social care in 1995. He is now renowned for his ability to pass on practical skills to those that attend his seminars and courses across the UK, Europe and the USA.
Over the years George has managed and successfully marketed his own businesses. He has now passes the skills he has learnt to owners and managers of social care settings. George is often a guest speaker at conferences and seminars explaining how to fill care home beds and promote homes successfully.
He is a published author of many books. His latest book The Guide to Filling Care Home Beds is due for publication December 2011.
