During the early Modern Period (1905-1915) Europe was characterized by an astonishing variety of 'isms'  or styles and movements.

Cubism, Orphism, Vorticism, Futurism, Neo-Primitivism, Rayism, to name but a few all contributed to the birth of Modernism.

This series of 3 lectures will look at the new ways in which artists tried to express how they saw the world around them, and how the quick succession of 'isms' led to a completely new type of art.

ART HISTORICAL LONDON
Leisure courses in Art History during term times

Started by Art Historian Mariska Beekenkamp-Wladimiroff after being encouraged by her students, Mariska now often invites other knowledgeable lecturers and guides to deliver specialist sessions to complement the program on offer, and tap into current happenings in the London art market.

Run in small groups, they are friendly, fun, inexpensive and flexible. They do not require any previous knowledge, and are for any one enjoying the arts and all that London has on offer.

For the price of a cinema ticket you can listen to experts in the field of Art History.

No homework, but lots of interesting things to learn, with hand-outs at the end of each session giving you art historical vocab, important names, dates, and suggestions for further reading or visits.

Please come along to any of our lectures or visits and try one out! No need to book long in advance or commit to paying for the whole series, simply turn up and let us know you would like to join that session!
