Course Description

This course is designed to provide an understanding of the Abrasive Wheel regulations and Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 instructing delegates in all aspects of the correct mounting, setting and use of Abrasive Wheels.

This course is part of a major review of guidance by the Health and Safety Executive and follows the introduction of the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 1992 as amended and the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998.

 

Brief Content:
  • Have an understanding of the Regulations and Legal Obligations
  • Demonstrate knowledge and practical application
  • Store and handle Abrasive Wheels
  • Examine and test wheels for damage
  • Set & dress wheels
  • Removal of wheels
  • Selection (Inc Marking System), testing & mounting of new wheel
  • Resetting rests & guards
  • Correct PPE selection & use
  • Correct techniques relative to the working environment

 

Safe Methods of Use of Abrasive Wheels

In Company courses will be tailored to the working environment
A Training room suitable for the number of delegates will be required when held onsite.

No prior knowledge of topic is required.
Delegates should attend a refresher course every 3 years.

This course has been developed in response to customers requests to enable them to teach their own staff how to use the equipment that they use regularly each working day. The course consists of two days theory and practical work and will be tailored to each individual company requirements regarding the type of equipment. Comprehensive training resources are provided.
