Details
Gain an understand and gain confidence with the knowledge of how to deal with an emergency situation, should it occur while your dog or a client's dog is in your care. This course contains a teaching power-point
and set of workbooks to complete and return to your designated tutor. On successful completion you gain a College Certificate. the course content includes principles
of first
aid, safe scene assessment, normal values (temperature, pulse rate, capillary refill time, hydration, mucous membrane colour, respiratory rate), recognising signs and first aid treatment of shock,
types of wounds and injuries and bleeding, types and principles of bandaging, symptoms and first aid for fractures and suspected fractures, emergency and trauma (unconsciousness, snake bites, stings, heat
exhaustion, heat, stroke, bloat, poison, drowning and electric shock), details on CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and rescue breathing and details of a suggested field first aid kits & car first aid
kits. Please note:- marking of student work is either a pass or refer (fail), this course does not cover individual tuition via email. If the student should refer then a £45 fee will be incurred if they wish to resubmit
work for additional marking to try again for a pass.
