This Course Runs:

One evening a week for 13 weeks or regular one day events through the year.

Theory and practical combined course.

Course Fee Covers:

All tuition, full insurance, electronic and paper copy hand outs, other study and assessment material, suggested reading list, written feedback, theory and practical assessment and College Certification.

Entry Requirements:

Students will need to demonstrate a required level of knowledge prior to enrolment through written assessment.  This is not a beginners course.

Course assessment by:

Multiple choice questionnaire, research and production of a portfolio, and a practical handling test. 

This Course Includes:
  • Module 1: Animal Learning Theories
  • Module 2: Canine Communication
  • Module 3: Handling skills, Control, Restraint and the application of Learning Theories
  • Module 4: Diet & Nutrition and influences in behaviour
  • Module 5: Evolution of Behaviour and Domestication influences in Behaviour.
  • Module 6: Dog Breeds and the influences in behaviour
  • Module &: Social, Sensory & Emotional Development of the dog.

Requires home study and practice.

Equipment Required:

* Pen and paper for note taking.

* A4 Folder and paper for portfolio production.

* email address or memory card for hand outs and additional material.

* Regular access to a sociable dog for training and practical assessments.+

* Access to a computer or ability to produce hand written work.

* Access to either books or the internet for research and continued study.

+ Access to a suitable dog also includes bringing the dog to College for practical handling and your assessment on two occasions. The dog must be sociable and non aggressive to other dogs and people.

Who is this course suitable for?
This course is suitable for:
  • Those working in kennels, dog grooming, training, vet nurses have over 5 years experience in handling different breeds effectively using the application of learning theory and have attended formal training. 
  •  Those owners with a suitable understanding of canine behaviour but would like to learn more.
