Hot stone therapy was primarily used as a tool to give relief from painful joints in therapists. It was soon found that the stones had many benefits for the clients too.
This is a one and half day course that will teach you the history and benefits of hot stones, massage movements using the stones, oils to use with stones and the massage routine.
The course covers some theory but is mainly practical work and includes 12 case studies. By the end of the course you will know:
- History & benefits of hot stone therapy
- How to carry out a consultation
- Equipment needed
- Massage movements
- Massage oils
- How to carry out a hot stone treatment
- Professional Ethics/Code of Practise/Working Environment
- Insurance and how to obtain it
Pre-requisites: Diplomas in Anatomy & Physiology and Body Massage (or equivalent) are required. Como offers courses in both Anatomy and Physiology and Body Massage. However, you will need to have completed both courses before starting the Hot Stone Massage course.
