BOHS P401- Identification of Asbestos in Bulk Samples

It is strongly advised by ourselves and BOHS that delegates have 3 months prior experience before attending this course.
Delegates will receive training in the nature of asbestos and its associated health effects, alongside a detailed review of the various products that contain asbestos.
The course will cover, in detail, the theory and application of polarised light microscopy (PLM) and the analytical procedures contained within HSG248‘The Analysts Guide’.
The course contains a large proportion of supervised practical analysis of real asbestos samples in our asbestos training laboratory.
The course includes a full range of PowerPoint presentations, video footage, accompanying notes and additional course materials.
ASSESSMENT
Candidates will be required to pass all of the following to be awarded the module:
A. Formative Practical Assessment
B. Written Theory Examination
C. Practical Examination
Successful completion of the course will give delegates the practical knowledge and skills to be able to carry out the analysis of samples for the presence of asbestos in accordance with HSG248. A formal certificate is issued to successful candidates directly by BOHS.
In-house courses are also available (minimum four delegates).
