Every year, 35 million workdays are lost as a result of accidents and ill health, with over a third related to manual lifting. Legislation requires employers to ensure that all employees are trained and competent in manual handling and that an assessment
of workstations is carried out. Our course is designed to give your staff the knowledge to perform manual lifting correctly and safely and ensure their workstation is correctly arranged.
OUTCOMES
On completion of the course delegates should be able to:
Understand the areas of responsibilities for both the employer and the employee.
Identify personal responsibilities for ergonomics and manual handling within the
workplace.
Explain the reasons for fires occurring and ways to prevent them from happening.
Develop safe systems of work to prevent reasonably foreseeable injury during
manual lifting work.
Identify the immediate and cumulative effects of strain and sprain injuries.
Assess the ergonomics of manual handling loads, including pulling and pushing.
Undertake basic legally required Display Screen Assessments and assessments
of workstations.
Understand the correct posture for workstations.
