At the end of the qualification, learners will be able to:
: Understand and use a limited range of simple words and sentences
: Take part in simple, everyday conversations
: Give and follow simple directions or instructions
: Give and follow simple familiar statements or descriptions
The qualification is divided into three units as follows:
: BSL101 Introduction to BSL
: BSL102 Conversational BSL
: BSL103 Communicate in BSL about Everyday Life
All three units can be achieved separately, but the full Level 1 Certificate in British Sign Language can only be given if there is a PASS in each unit.

We provide high quality training and qualifications with any profit made going directly to support the services Genie Networks provides to families. GTA is passionate about improving access for Deaf/Hard of Hearing people through communication and awareness. Our teachers are Deaf and have a wealth of knowledge about Deaf culture and British Sign Language. They are all qualified teachers and assessors of British Sign language and have a combined experience of over 60 years of teaching. It is estimated that 1 in 6 people in the UK have been diagnosed with hearing loss and therefore awareness of communication tactics such as lip reading, English modification and Sign Language are invaluable skills for you to possess; in addition to being a lot of fun to learn!
