First Aid At Work Requalification 2 Day

Once qualified as an approved First Aider your qualification will be valid for a period of 3 years, after which you are required to retrain*. Our First Aid at Work Re-qualification course provides attendees with the updated knowledge needed, and a valid First Aid at Work certificate that supports the requirements from the HSE.  The recommended duration of the retraining course is 12 hours over 2 days; however the course duration may be increased to meet additional learning needs if required.

Attendees will be assessed against all learning outcomes and assessment criteria in the units covered within the course.

*In order for individuals to remain qualified First Aiders, they must retake their qualification in a refresher course whilst their existing certificate remains in date; learners have a one month period of grace, post certificate expiry, to be able to access the shorter course; however it is important to note that during this period, learners are not qualified to provide First Aid.

Below is a list of some key areas that will be covered during the 3-day course:

• The roles and responsibilities of the First Aider;
• Assessing an incident;
• Recognising signs and symptoms of injury and illness;
• Assisting a casualty who is suffering from major injury and illness;
• Basic Life Support including CPR;
• Recovery Position;
• Seizures;
• Fractures and Dislocations;
• Wounds and Bleeding;
• Chest injuries;
• Spinal injuries and anaphylaxis;
• Legislation and Reporting.

The course is typically completed over a 2-day period in order to meet the minimum contact time of 12 hours. The course is accredited with a 3-credit qualification, and a certificate is issued to participants who successfully complete the training.
