The Level 4 Low Back Pain Certificate is comprised of:
- Types of low back pain (LBP)
- Exercise guidelines for LBP patients
- Building an assessment strategy using functional tests: pelvis, hip, foot/ankle, shoulder, and spine
- Structuring physical activity while considering postural, movement and weight bearing sensitivities
- Working effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Factors relating to LBP and how to control them
- The role of exercise and physical activity in the management of LBP
- Treating low back pain, including the effectiveness of manual therapy, drugs and psychotherapy
- Screening, gathering information and goal setting
- Motivating low back pain patients – including motivational interviewing
In order to the pass the course and achieve the exercise specialist title, you’ll be required to complete a number of online worksheets and a case study. The knowledge and skills gained from these assessments, in conjunction with of our online resources and the practical workshop, will fully prepare you for the practical exam at the conclusion of the course.
Day 3 of the course includes a paractical assessment where you’ll be required to teach a corrective exercise session to a client suffering from low back pain.

In order to enrol on this specialist Level 4 course, you must already hold a Level 3 Diploma in Exercise Referral.
