This high quality Asbestos Awareness training course teaches you all you need to know about basic asbestos awareness in a concise online format.
Even though Asbestos was banned from use in the UK during the 1980s, Asbestos-related diseases are still responsible for more than 5,000 deaths in the UK alone each year.
This online course looks at what asbestos is, where it might be found, and what to do in case of accidental disturbance. We also look at the major diseases that are caused by working with asbestos without adequate protection - asbestosis, pleural thickening, mesothelioma, and lung cancer.
Anyone who has even the slightest chance of being exposed to asbestos fibres at work should take this training; as an employer, it is your legal obligation to ensure they know where asbestos and asbestos materials are likely to be found in buildings, as well as how to avoid the risk of exposure.

Outline
In section 1, we look at the three major types of asbestos, how they were used, why they were used, and why they are such a health risk. We cover the four major diseases caused by asbestos - asbestosis, pleural thickening, mesothelioma, and lung cancer.
In this section we look at the practical steps to reduce and remove the risks at work and what to do if you unexpectedly find/discover/disturb asbestos.
