Safeguarding children is about protecting children and keeping them safe from harm. It’s about promoting their health and welfare and helping them to grow up in a safe and supportive environment.
It's estimated that at least one child dies from abuse or neglect each week in the UK alone. It is therefore becoming increasingly important for those working with children to be able to identiify and deal with child abuse.
This Safeguarding Children Training programme covers the difficult subject of child abuse; the different types of abuse, how to recognise the signs and how to correctly and discreetly report concerns. It also looks at the importance of speaking up and acting quickly.
The course is CPD Accredited and provides a printable certificate upon completion.
Outline
This section will look at the legislation, children's legal rights, policies & procedures and your safeguarding responsibilities.
2. Recognising Abuse in Children
In this section, we’re going to look at the common types of child abuse and the warnings that can suggest abuse is taking place.
3. Responding to Abuse
In this third section, we take a look at what to do if a child makes a disclosure and you need to respond directly to them.
4. Recording Observations
Depending on the requirements of your organisation, the method of reporting this may differ. In this section, we take a look at what the key principles of a written record are.
5. Reporting Concerns
In this section, we’ll look at why it’s crucial to report your concerns, and what individuals and agencies may be involved to safeguard a child.
