The Diploma in Hotel Management aims to provide students with a broad understanding of the operational aspects of the international hotel industry, and a knowledge of the underlying principles involved. This programme has been devised on the basis that students will attend a course of study at the College involving 15 hours per week, during the academic year. Private study will be required over and above this figure. Each of the modules has a two and a half hour examination, set and marked by CTH.
COURSE DURATION* 15 hours per week.
*Course duration is dependant on successful completion of all Course Modules, and may be delivered over 2 years, at 15 hours per week, over 3 days per week (which is the requirement for International students), in order to achieve the Award to which the Course
leads.
Entry Requirements
Candidates must have attained one of the following entryrequirements:
• Leaving Certificate or Higher School Certificate
• Relevant Work Experience in the Hospitality sector
• Other recognised qualifications of approved overseas Institutions
For selection onto a course at Advanced Diploma level the applicant must have beensuccessful in, or exempt from, the Diploma level course. If a candidate has completed their study at Diploma level and wishes to begin their study at Advanced Diploma level then the candidate must have passed at least five Diploma level unit examinations to be able to progress.
ASSESSMENTEach unit at the Diploma level is assessed by a two and a half hour examination, unlessotherwise stated in the examination timetable.The examinations are held three times per year in January, June and September, and setand marked by CTH.
