Details

This one-day, practical workshop will explore the important role of lighting for portraiture and facilitate you with an understanding of light sources, qualities and textures, as well as the basic technical skills for using studio lighting to aid you in developing your own light language.

Participants will look at the relationship the camera has with light and how they communicate, so it would be best if you have some experience using manual mode on an SLR.

You will put what you learn into practice by getting to shoot portraits with studio set-ups in the gallery, as well as outdoors, and finish the day with a presentation of the work. This will be a great addition to your portfolio.

Learn how to use professional studio lights. Discover how to work with the sun and sky from different perspectives to create various effects and moods. Get a feel for reflectors, scrims and blocks. Learn how to direct a model under different light sources. Consolidate understanding of shutter speed, aperture and ISO in relation to varied lighting.
