1 Day Emergency First Aid at Work
Details
The course is suitable for organisations where a qualified first aider is not required, but where there must be an ‘appointed person’ to satisfy the needs of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. It is also suitable for people who wish to gain an understanding of First Aid emergency procedures. Examination is by way of continuous assessment and a certificate of attendance is issued. This course is delivered in line with the 2009 legislative changes.
Who Should AttendPersons who are deemed suitable and are intended to fulfil the role of an ‘appointed person’. Participants are advised to dress appropriately as they will be required to work at floor level for practical sessions.

- Contents of a first aid box
- Resuscitation
- Treatment of unconscious casualties
- Heart attack
- Choking
- Shock
- Communication and delegation in an emergency
- Control of bleeding
A general overview of the following topics is also given:
- Allergic reaction
- Burns and scalds
- Injuries to bones, muscle and joints
