This course is approved by the Joint Approvals Unit for Periodic Training (JAUPT) to meet Driver CPC training (Certificate of Professional Competence) requirements for professional drivers of large goods vehicles and passenger carrying vehicles.
The seven-hour course can be run in one or two consecutive days, and it counts towards the compulsory 35 hours needed to meet Driver CPC requirements. It will provide you with the skills and confidence needed to administer first aid in emergency situations while on the road.
The Professional Drivers First Aid certificate is valid for three years.
Driver CPC regulations
EU regulations require drivers of passenger carrying vehicles (PCV) with nine or more seats, and large goods vehicles (LGV) over 3.5 tonnes, to complete 35 hours of training within rolling five year periods.
- New drivers who acquire a vocational entitlement after the 10 September 2008 (PCV) and/or 10 September 2009 (LGV) will have to obtain the Initial Qualification to drive professionally
- Existing drivers who held a vocational license prior to 10 September 2008 (PCV) or the 10 September 2009 (LGV) are exempt from the Initial Qualification (known as acquired rights)
- All drivers must complete 35 hours periodic training every five years following their acquired rights of Initial Qualification.
