The  Level 3 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace provides progression from the Level 2 Award in Health an Safety in the Workplace and is intended principally for those who are operating in a supervisory or managerial role. Qualification holders will have gained a wide range of knowledge on health and safety Law, the hazards present in a workplace and how to implement effective and necessary controls. The  Level 3 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace will equip candidates with the skills necessary for the effective supervision of staff. It will also focus on the importance of the health and safety culture of a business which will be an invaluable resource to those taking the qualification.

The  Level 3 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace is applicable for any private or public sector working environment. Candidates working towards the  Level 3 qualification will know that supervisors and managers have legal and moral obligations to ensure health and safety within a business and that this includes obligations to employees, contractors, suppliers and members of the public. They will also be able to take responsibility for ensuring the competency of the workforce and for identifying hazards, implementing controls and taking appropriate corrective action when necessary. Furthermore, holders of the Level 3 Award will  assist businesses to demonstrate their legal requirement to engage a 'competent person'.

All learners must be instructed to bring photographic identification

We will accept the following as  proof of a learner’s identity:
o Valid Passport (any nationality)
o Signed UK Photo card Driving Licence
o Valid Warrant Card issued by HM Forces, Police
o Other photographic ID card, e.g. Employee ID Card (must be current
employer), Student ID Card, Travel card.

Outline

Candidates must understand the importance of supervising health and safety in the workplace and understand the reasons for implementing systems to ensure employees behave responsibly

Workplace Accidents:
Candidates must be able to understand the importance of their role with regard to preventing, reporting and investigation accidents

Principles of Health and Safety Law:
Candidates must have an awareness of the legislative requirements and associated guidance for health and safety in the workplace.

Organising Health and Safety in the Workplace:
Candidates must be able to recognise the reasons for systematic and planned health and safety controls

Workplace Hazards:
Candidates must be able to identify and evaluate workplace hazards and risks and their possible effects

Workplace and Occupational Ill Health:
Candidates must be able to identify and evaluate workplace and occupational ill health hazards and risks and their possible effects

Monitoring and Measuring Health and Safety Performance:
Candidates must understand the contribution that supervisors should make regarding monitoring and improving health and safety policies and procedures in the workplace
