This one day, hands-on workshop led by awarding-winning Photographer Brendan Ó Sé will show you how to get the absolute best out of your Smartphone camera.

  • Learn great tips and tricks for better composition and exposure
  • Discover the best mobile photography apps
  • Learn how using apps can develop your own personal style of photography
  • Enjoy the freedom and fun that smartphone photography offers

You will put what you have learned into practice by getting out and about in Temple Bar, Dublin’s Cultural Quarter to shoot photographs under Brendan’s guidance. After the shoot, you will return to the gallery to learn exciting post-production techniques on your own images.

  • Explore dynamic effects with cropping, rotating & transforming
  • Fine tune your images by adjusting brightness, saturation and contrast
  • Sharpen your images to make the subject pop or soften them with lens blur
  • Add filters to create Noir, Retro, Vintage or Grainy looks
  • Create collages by layering multiple exposures
  • Add stylized borders and frames or vignette effects for the perfect finishing touch

Tutor Bio:
Brendan Ó Sé is an award-winning fine art / iPhone photographer from Co. Cork. He has won four international mobile photography competitions this year. He is the recipient of the Mira Mobile Photography Prize, the Mediterraneo Foto Festival Award, ‘Best in Show’ at the Florence International Photography Awards and a Cannes Golden Lion award. His iPhone photographs have been on billboards, posters, print media and TV adverts as part of the Apple Shot on iPhone 6 global campaign.

Brendan’s photography has been featured in numerous online photography publications and magazines. He has exhibited both his DSLR and iPhone images in Dublin, Miami, Florence, Lecce, and Porto. His photography has been showcased in cities such as Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Paris, Bangalore, Tokyo, Bogota, Kuala Lumpur, Berlin, Boston, Milan, Singapore, Sydney and many more throughout the world. 

What do you need to bring?
A smartphone: Please bring your smartphone (and your charger! as you will be using it all day and you don’t want to risk it running out!)

Pen & Paper: Notes will be supplied but it’s always a good idea to bring a pen and notepad.

Where does the course take place?
 The course takes place in the Gallery of Photography’s LightRoom

Established in 1978 by John Osman, the Gallery of Photography is the national centre for photography in Ireland.

The Gallery of Photography is located in the heart of Temple Bar in the heart of Dublin. Gallery of Photography is located in Meeting House Square – a pedestrianised square in the heart of Temple Bar, located just off East Essex St, between Eustace St and Sycamore St.

The Gallery of Photography exhibition spaces and darkroom facilities are accessible to people in wheelchairs. The widest most accessible entry point to Meeting House Square is via the East Essex Street entry.
