Our half-day Seizure Awareness course deals with the understanding of how seizures commence and how they can be managed safely for both the patient and the healthcare worker. More and more healthcare workers encounter patients or clients that might have seizures on a regular basis.
Who should attend this Seizure Awareness course?
Anyone who wants to be trained and certified in the seizure management or people who will be dealing with epilepsy patients, especially healthcare workers.
Course objectives
Ensuring that the healthcare workers understand and recognize seizure occurrence. As well, preparing the healthcare workers to act appropriately during the occurrence of seizures in patients.
Course programme
- Epilepsy awareness.
- The different types of epilepsy.
- The effects of epilepsy.
- Medication preparation.
- Administration of medication if needed.
Methods of Training
The course is highly interactive with each theory session being followed by a demonstration, practical tasks and assessment of individual skills.
Assessment and certification
Continuous assessment throughout the course. Students receive a PSTC Certificate on completion. The certificate is valid for 2 years.
