Emergency First Aid at Work

Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work is an ideal course for low-risk environments such as offices and shops who require a first aider.
Although, it is also suitable for those assisting with first aid requirements in higher-risk companies.
Who needs emergency first aid training?Emergency first aid is ideal for any sized company. In particular, low-risk businesses that need first aiders.
Your company first aid requirements should be visible from your risk assessments. These will outline the type & number of first aiders required in your organisation. Alternatively, you can view the HSE’s recommendations in this advice sheet.
Outline
Over the course, candidates will learn a variety of techniques. These include performing CPR, assessing an incident scene and treating burns and seizures. The full course content is:
- The roles and responsibilities of the first aider
- Contents of the first aid kit
- Incident reporting
- Scene, primary and secondary surveys (assessing the incident)
- The recovery position
- Dealing with unresponsive casualties
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
- Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- Abdominal Thrusts
- Treatment of wounds
- Shock
- Seizures
- Burns
Candidates are assessed during each practical activity. At the end of the course, candidates will complete a multiple choice question paper. Each candidate must successfully complete both elements to pass the course.
On passing the emergency first aid course each candidate will receive a certificate. These certificates are accredited through Highfield Qualifications and are valid for 3 years. After this, the course must be retaken.
