COURSE DESCRIPTION

This free course aims to provide healthcare line managers and department heads with an introduction to managing occupational health and safety. The full course consists of six modules and is suitable for all healthcare settings. 

This module, Module 6, introduces you to Psychosocial Hazards in Healthcare. It can be studied as a stand alone module or as part of the full course. 

Module 6 is split into three topics:

  • Topic 1: Violence and Aggression,
  • Topic 2: Risk Assessment, and
  • Topic 3: Implementing Control Measures. 

Please note that the module is intended as an overview and may need to be supplemented by more specific training and / or specialised advice.

CERTIFICATION

To qualify for your official ALISON Diploma, Certificate or PDF you must studyand complete all modules and score 80% or more in each of the course assessments. A link to purchase your Diploma certificate will then appear under the My Certificates heading of your My Account page.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the end of this module you should be able to:

  • define the terms violence and aggression
  • recognise the effect that violence and aggression has in the workplace
  • recognise how violence and aggression may occur in the healthcare setting, and
  • describe control measures used to minimise the risk of violence and aggression.
