This qualification is a Level 5 qualification. It is relevant to teaching in the post-16 sector for those working as full-time teachers or trainers. This online course is best suited to those who are already in a teaching position. It is not suitable for
those with no experience of teaching as they would be better accommodated in a classroom-based environment with teaching practice facilitated for them.
The course is a self paced online course, you can enrol at any time during the year. You will need to have access to 100 hours of teaching and 8 of these need to be observed.
Outline
This is an online course and you have all the materials available for you. You will be required to carry out tasks to cover the assessment criteria for each unit. Some of these tasks may be a discussion or a reflective journal, whereas others may be asking you to produce evidence of your work as a teacher. Each task has the criteria marked on it which it aims to cover. However, there may be cases where these are not fully covered. Your tutor will provide feedback online where you have uploaded your work as well as sending you out a progress report with feedback telling you what else you need to do to complete the unit.
The discussion forum is part of your assessment so you must participate. The forum gives you the opportunity to communicate with other professionals and is part of your development. To access the forum, click on it and then click on the named discussion.
When you want to add anything, just click on reply. You can copy and paste from a Word document into this discussion, or write directly.
All units have a specified number of credits allocated to them. We deliver four mandatory units and three optional units. The minimum number of credits that need to be achieved are 120.
MKLC (Milton Keynes Language Centre) was established in 1988 as a private company offering foreign language training to business and the general public. Over the years MKLC expanded into teaching English as a foreign language and progressed into teacher training and assessor qualifications. MKLC was one of the pilot companies selected by the Awarding Body to offer the teacher training qualifications.
The online courses are held on our Moodle site. Students have access to the site at all times, so they can work on their course, whilst maintaining previous commitments. All of our students are provided with tutor support to help them progress through their courses.
We also provide classroom based courses, all of our classrooms are arranged for small groups, we have a maximum of 12 to a classroom to ensure everyone receives individual attention.
We work with two awarding bodies, TQUK and Edexcel, both of which are approved by Ofqual. We have direct claims on all of our accredited courses.
