Outline

By the end of the course participants will be empowered & enabled to:

  • Recognise early signs and symptoms of possible problems, child abuse and neglect in accordance with national guidelines, their LSCB and their company safeguarding and child protection procedures

  • Identify the course of action one should take if they have concerns or a child discloses abuse to them, identifying appropriate contacts, in compliance with LSCB procedures

  • To work through the power-point presentation and to familiarise oneself with the details and information contained within.

By the end of the session staff will:

  • Be familiar with the use of differing terminology

  • Be familiar with legislation that guides and instructs staff how to conduct their duties to safeguard children

  • Know and understand the importance of working together (2010) to safeguard children, and how to use the information, in a constructive manner

  • Identify personal and organisational good practice to safeguard the welfare of children
