Details

The treatment of sports related problems has grown over recent years, due to the vast increase in leisure activities and the interest in sport and fitness.  The demand for a therapist with a wide based knowledge will always find plenty of opportunities to find work.  Since the announcement of the London Olympic Games in 2012, Sports Therapists have been in great demand, and its success has led to more people taking up sporting activities, and using the services of a Sports Therapist.

Sports treatments vary greatly from sports massage routines to help prevent injuries, maintain suppleness and improve performance, to full treatments using electrotherapy.  Sports Therapists are also involved in rehabilitating after injury, and in promoting fitness through exercise.

A Sports Therapist is trained to assess common musculo-skeletal problems, and offer treatment for such conditions as whiplash, back pain, Repetitive Strain Injury, frozen shoulder and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, amongst others.

Our Level 5 Advanced Diploma in Clinical Sports Therapy course will provide you with all the skills required to work in the exciting and rewarding field of Sports Therapy.  We train candidates in the safe use of electrotherapy equipment, which is now widely used in most professional clubs and clinics.

This Advanced level course also offers further training in vertebral mobilisations, kinesiology taping, interferential and microcurrent, and advanced trauma care, including the use of AED.

As we as practical training, candidates are also required to undertake home study assignments.

We also provide the following text-books:

‘Active Health Group’ was formed in 1997, as ‘Active Health Sports Therapy’, by its founder Richard Johnson.  Initially, Richard ran a busy clinic, worked for various sports clubs, as well as teaching Sports Massage and Sports Therapy.

In 1999, Richard co-founded ‘Sports Therapy Organisation’ (STO), as a small networking group of physiotherapists and sports massage therapists working in sport which mainly covered the North West.  Its main aims were to provide support and advice, and also to ‘exchange’ ideas and techniques through small workshops.

As STO grew, the need for a good quality Sports Therapy course became more apparent as there were very few around.

In 2000, Christian Platts joined the team, and ‘Active Health Group’ was born.  Its main aim was to provide a good alternative to the traditional sports therapy courses offered mainly at colleges of further education.

Since then, Active Health Group has provided consistent professional training in Sports Therapy and Massage, and was the first company to develop externally accredited qualifications at Level 5 in Sports Therapy and Sports & Remedial Massage, and at Level 4 in Myofascial Release.  Where we have lead, others have followed. ...
