In UK and Wales, it is estimated that 25,000 of people with dementia belongs to Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) groups. How can we communicate effectively with them? What shall we take into account to provide an excellent care service? This course is for carers, nurses, and residential care staff.

The aim of the training
By the end of the day those who attend will be able to understand how culture and language may impact on health outcomes and how to have good cross cultural communication skills can make the difference for providing the best care to people with dementia from
BAME backgrounds.
The learning outcomes (no more than 6 for a day)

3. Understand cultural influences
4. Use effectively verbal and non verbal communication
5. Understand how culture may impact on dementia experience
6. Understand cross-cultural issues to consider in client assessment
Speaker/s
Over the years George has managed and successfully marketed his own businesses. He has now passes the skills he has learnt to owners and managers of social care settings. George is often a guest speaker at conferences and seminars explaining how to fill care home beds and promote homes successfully.
He is a published author of many books. His latest book The Guide to Filling Care Home Beds is due for publication December 2011.
