Children's Tap, ages 5-7, ISTD Primary syllabus
Details
The pupil will learn exercises to promote correct use of the feet, legs and body, with attention to posture; rhythmical beating and footwork of basic exercises and steps; improvisation to a given rhythm; work interacting with other members of the class; simple amalgamations; a group dance suitable for performance with a chance to perform! Children are entered for ISTD examinations when ready, if they wish, and the course will renew termly. After the exam is taken, children progress to the next class, where they work towards Grade 1. (Classes return in September after the summer break).
Children are taught by qualified staff, and can also take Ballet and Modern Theatre Dance classes, which are discounted if all genres are studied, (if you have enrolled for Primary Ballet, 12 weeks of Tap will cost £24, instead of £36). Please telephone 020- for further information, or look in! You may attend a free trial class, one week before the date of the first class listed.
Suitable for boys or girls! Tap shoes are required, but need not be purchased immediately, and can be purchased at a discount from the school. There are often second-hand shoes available at this age. If the student continues, there is a basic uniform of stretch
jazz trousers. (You can wait a few weeks before purchasing this, to see if it's going to be an ongoing interest first, and then buy them cheaper from us).
Our aim is to inspire students to love dancing, make full use of all their physical and mental capabilities and to express themselves emotionally to reach a competent level of technique and artistry.
We try to keep our classes as low-cost as possible to be as accessible as possible.
