Details

You will get whitegoods repair training that will prepare you for a career or business in fault finding and repairing washing machines, dishwashers, tumble dryers and more.

The course is predominantly ‘hands on’ and covers a wide selection of products from most major manufacturers.

Entry requirements

  • You do not need any formal qualifications.
  • The main criteria for any candidate is their willingness to learn a varied and interesting range of new skills.
  • Suitable for candidates with no previous knowledge as well as those with some electrical or mechanical background wishing to gain specific knowledge relating to appliance repair.
  • We suggest that candidates are familiar with the use of a range of hand tools such as screwdrivers, spanners and socket sets etc and application of such basic tools.

NOTE: This does not mean you need to have any or be from an engineering background all you need is a basic understanding of tools and their use – most ‘DIYers’ and practical people possess these basic skills.

What will you learn?

You will gain knowledge and practical application of how basic tools are used in respect of domestic appliance repair and servicing (sometimes know as Whitegoods Repair Training).

This course is specifically designed to provide in-depth knowledge in addition to practical skills as they are both essential for all service personnel.

Subject areas covered include:

  • Health & Safety
  • Safer Working Practices
  • Basic Plumbing
  • Electrical Knowledge
  • Component Function
  • Fault Finding Techniques
  • Use of Circuit Diagrams & Sequence Charts
  • Practical Application of Skills Learnt.

The first day of the course includes the most important aspects of the Safer Working Practices ‘best practice’ course.

This particular section of the course is relevant to all Class 1 appliances (automatic washing machines, tumble dryers and dishwashers) and its inclusion on this course is essential.

The training provided may then be used to assist candidates in gaining relevant NVQs/QCF’s* as required.

However, NVQ/QCF acquisition can only be realised by actually applying what you have learnt in a true working environment.

Assistance, direction and assessment can be provided by Dixon Training for those who wish to acquire their NVQ/QCF* awards in their chosen subject area such as Home Laundry.

*NOTE: NVQ’s are to be replaced as a qualification called QCF’s however, the new qualification will not be all that dissimilar.
