This Understanding Autism Level 2 Certificate RQF provides an introduction to autism and the principles of supporting individuals on the autistic spectrum.
After providing a general introduction to the autistic spectrum, the course covers using person-centred approaches and supporting positive communication. Sensory processing, perception and cognition are then discussed, including how autism can affect these processes.
Finally the course concludes by covering supporting positive behaviour and how to support individuals with autism to live a healthy, happy and fulfilled life.
This course is ideal for learners who want to develop awareness and understanding of autism and know how to support individuals with the condition. This qualification is ideal for learners who support individuals with autism in a variety of settings, including health, social care, entertainment, leisure, nursing, education, training and the public sector. It consists of six mandatory units:
1. Introduction to autism
2. Using a person-centred approach to support individuals with autism
3. Communication and social interaction in individuals with autism
4. Sensory processing, perception and cognition in individuals with autism
5. Supporting positive behaviour in individuals with autism
6. Supporting individuals with autism to live healthy and fulfilled lives
To achieve the qualification, the learner must achieve all 18 credits from all six units.
