This qualification is intended to provide the delegate with an introduction to initial verification (inspecting and testing new works as well as alterations to and additions to an existing installation).

- practicing electricians who have carried out very little inspection and testing since they qualified;
- those who need update training before moving onto higher level Inspection and Testing courses;
- those who have limited experience of inspection and testing who are entering the industry from other engineering disciplines or who are working in allied trades.

COURSE CONTENT
Delegates attending this course must be 18 years of age or older. There are no formal entry requirements; however City and Guilds require that all candidates have a basic knowledge and understanding of electrical science and principles and have experience of electrical work either within the electrical contracting industry or an allied trade.
- Preparation for inspection and testing
- Considerations and precautions
- Safe isolation of supplies
- Proving dead
- Equipment vulnerable to damage
- Inspection
- Testing
- Continuity of protective conductors, including main protective and supplementary bonding conductors
- Continuity of ring final circuit conductors
- Insulation resistance
- Polarity
- Earth electrode resistance
- Loop impedance
- Prospective fault current
- Functional operation, including RCD’s
- Documentation
- Successfully complete an inspection and test of a simulated new installation and correctly complete the necessary documentation.
- On-line 50 question multiple choice exam.
