Introduction
This course has been designed by iSMTA and CINPLAT and forms the core competencies for lone working. This is the first time that such a professional lone worker course has the backing of an intuitive mobile application panic alarm system (CiNPLAT) to provide a comprehensive solution. The course is broken down into six Modules which are delivered through our professional Learning Management System (LMS). Each Module includes interactive taught content to guide you through the course and provide invaluable information, advice and guidance. There are also quizzes to evaluate your understanding, within the LMS you will also be able to access resources, such as a certificate of attendance, which maybe supplied to your Human Resources (HR) department as proof of attendance.

Why iSMTA
Unlike other providers iSMTA is an e-learning purist, in that all taught content that is delivered by one of our many Subject Matter Experts (SME) is a close resemblance to actually being in the classroom, but without all the costs and time constraints. This self-certifying (Duty of Care) course delivered over one hour will enable you to apply some basic reasoning to make informed decisions as to your safety.

Outline

What you will be Taught
The Lone Worker Protection course is broken down into six Modules which allows you to firstly, understand what lone working is and working from home, to travelling to and from work, colour coding awareness, risk assessing and dealing with confrontation and aggression. The course is intended to get you to conduct further research in order to combine your personal circumstances and the knowledge provided by the course content. The Modules for this course are:

Module 1: Working from home – This Module identifies the necessary personal security measures you may need at home as a lone worker either working from home, or mobile, from the home location.

Module 2: Travelling to and from work –  This Module takes into consideration the travelling arrangements for getting to and from your working environment and looks at the safest method of transport and how you can become safe by following some guided principles. You will discover how to carry out the basic checks prior to leaving and how to remain in a safe environment whilst travelling from one job to the next.

Module 3: Lone worker colour coding, awareness and dynamic risk assessment – This Module develops your awareness system so that at certain times, or environments, your awareness will become more astute.

Module 4: Dealing with aggressive people (conflict management) –  Personal security is not just about the physical defence, it is more likely: 60% psychological, 25% emotional and 15% physical. With this in mind we have created a dynamic emergency directive, which roughly translates as an on the move execution of an order, which in this case is the mnemonic S.T.O.P. This directive will place you physically and emotionally in a position of safety. Being able to exit or escape should be your optimal directive to avoid a situation.

Module 4b: Dealing with violence in the workplace (conflict management) – When you are confronted by a potential aggressive individual your body gives out signals, which can be mistaken for aggression and escalate the situation, not to mention what or how you verbally respond to someone being verbally aggressive towards you. The STOP dynamic emergency directive enables you the ability to remain in a safe posture whilst trying to de-escalate the situation.

Module 5: Duty of Care (Risk Assessment, CiNPLAT and the Law) – This Module will look at your management and supervision of lone workers and the law of Duty of Care and how to develop company policies to ensure that you meet the care issues to your lone workers.
