1. Change

This section firstly looks at Change vs Transition.  

Change is external. It's something which happens to us. We often have little to no control over it.

Transition is internal. It's our emotional and psychological response to the changes happening around us. We can learn to control our transition.

This section also introduces you to two different models that have been created by Psychologists to try and understand our reaction to change.  These models are the Kubler-Ross Change Curve and the Bridges Transition Model.

2. Responding to change

The Kubler-Ross Change Curve states that we move through a series of stages - first shock or denial, then anger, bargaining, depression, and finally, acceptance.

The Bridges Transition Model focuses on our individual experiences as we let go of the old, navigate what’s known as “the neutral zone” of uncertainty, and then finally accept change as a new beginning.

Using the models above, this section presents you with actionable tips at each stage of the models, to help you navigate through changes in your life and shows you how you can start to respond to the changes more effectively.  

Conclusion

At the end of this course change may still feel the same to you, but you will better understand your natural reactions and how to handle them, which means that your response to change can improve - and in time - your feelings about change can change too.

There are interactive questions included in this course to ensure you have understood the content and a certificate will be available to download on completion.
