Details

Our Indoor Cycling Instructor course won’t just teach you the basics, or theory in abstract, it shows you how to apply this knowledge when it comes to actually planning and instructing classes of your own. At the end of the day, that’s the sole purpose of our qualification, to take your career to the next level. The following is by far an exhaustive list, or everything you will learn on this course, but it will serve as a great introduction of what to expect.

•    Planning safe and effective indoor cycling sessions
•    Teaching fun, energetic and effective indoor cycling sessions
•    Health, safety and welfare considerations
•    A variety of cycling approaches and techniques
•    Setting up indoor cycling classes
•    Using music effectively for exercise
•    Motivating participants during a class/session

ASSESSMENT

The course is comprised of three main elements:

  • Knowledge-based assessments including multiple choice exams
  • Practical weekend where you’ll be taught how to deliver an indoor cycling session, you’ll also be assessed on your ability to deliver one
  • Lesson plan demonstrating your ability to plan and progress an indoor cycling session over a 4 week period
PREREQUISITES

If you’ve ever participated in an indoor cycling session yourself, you know how hard it can be to dig deep and keep pedalling when your body feels like it’s going to give way. Being a great motivator and commanding a room are essential skills to have. As a qualified instructor, you could be the deciding factor between a client giving up and getting off the bike, or pushing through to the end of the session.

Aside from personal qualities, in order to enrol, you must have, or be working towards, a Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instruction (Gym or Exercise to Music). This can either be held in the context of exercise of music, gym instruction, circuit training or aqua instruction. We also also recommend that if you’ve never taken a spinning class you do so during the distance learning period of the course. Being familiar with the bike and the structure of sessions will prove incredibly useful.
